Boston-based Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) reports a healthy, viable clean energy sector that now employs over 110,000 people state-wide. Examples of that growth include the MassCEC facilities in Boston and nearby New Bedford. In Boston, the Wind Technology Testing Center is the largest wind turbine testing facility in North America while the New Bedford facility is designed to support the construction, assembly, and deployment of offshore wind projects. Clean offshore wind energy is becoming an important source of power to Boston and the rest of Massachusetts. Then there is the investment in energy. Numerous private equity and investment banks in Boston are thriving on their positions in the renewable energy sector. Like many large cities in the U.S., an emphasis on renewable supplies and cleantech is being driven by state initiatives. Expect to see more cleantech startups in Bean Town.
